Digital x-rays, also known as digital radiographs, are done with an annual dental examination to allow a better view of your oral health. In most cases, x-rays are a part of your dental exam. They can be administered as part of a preventive dental treatment plan or if you are experiencing pain in your mouth. What to Expect
Often done at the beginning of your dental exam, digital x-rays take about 5 – 10 minutes to complete. Most patients will have a series of x-rays taken to include all areas. After they are complete, they are uploaded to be viewed during your examination. Our team will assess if there are any areas of concern and go over treatment options.

A series of digital images will generally be taken once a year at your dental exam. For some visits, a whole mouth series may be performed to get a more comprehensive view of the teeth, gums, and jaw. Your digital images will be stored in your oral health file at People's Dental so our team can view changes over time and chart any developing problems.

Usually, dental insurance will include and cover digital imaging costs as part of a dental exam. Our office will contact your insurance company to estimate any balances.
