Cosmetic veneers can be used to quickly hide chips and stains on your enamel, improve misaligned or worn down teeth, and fix teeth that are unevenly shaped or spaced. At People's Dental, your cosmetic veneers will be custom made to fit comfortably over your teeth for an attractive and natural look. At your consultation, we will listen to your goals and expectations so we can customize your treatment. Our team will also determine if you are a good candidate for cosmetic veneers by analyzing your overall oral health. You should not have signs of gum problems, or habitually clench your jaw and grind your teeth (called bruxism).
What To Expect
When you have developed your unique treatment plan with our team, we will take physical or digital dental impressions. Your cosmetic veneers could be created in our office with CEREC technology while you wait, or the impressions can be sent to a dental laboratory where your custom veneers will be crafted out of high-quality porcelain material. When your custom veneers are ready, we will remove a small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth. This creates space for the veneers and improves the bond for a more natural result that lasts a long time. Once your veneers are bonded, we will make minor adjustments so your veneers fit well.
Since getting veneers usually does not require anesthesia, you should be able to get back to your daily activities after your appointment. You may experience some sensitivity to hot and cold food for a few days, but this should subside naturally. Your veneers should be cleaned like your natural teeth with frequent brushing and flossing. While porcelain veneers are more resistant to stains compared to your natural enamel, you should still avoid staining food and drinks to keep your smile bright. To avoid chipping your veneers, you should not chew on hard objects, such as ice or your fingernails. Continue to go to dental exams and cleanings at People's Dental so we can monitor the condition of your cosmetic veneers, teeth, and overall oral health. Our team will let you know if your porcelain veneers need to be repaired or replaced.
Veneers are a cosmetic procedure, so they are generally not included in dental insurance. People's Dental does accept many payment methods, including medical financing, to make your treatment easier to afford. During your consultation, we will customize your plan to fit your goals and budget and go over an estimate for your treatment.
